D'Oyly Carte

This is a Mixed Foursome event which started in 1931, the players were playing for the D'Oyly Carte trophy and their names on the board in the lounge.

My partner was Lady Captain and our playing companions were Peter and Carol Broadbent.

Diamond Jubilee Social

Well, a very patriotic night was had by all, flag waving and good old sing song made the evening go with a bang, the food was great and the entertainment was a really good mix of oldies and modern songs, the Wainwrights flowed and the bar staff had fun keeping up with its popularity.

3rd Captains Qualifier

Great weather and great company, Matthew Lukeman and Chris Hare accompanied me today they hit the ball far too far for us normal players wow.  The course is holding up under the heat of the midday sun, we could do with rain overnight and warm sunny days but sadly we have no control over that.  Lets let the green keepers work their magic and allow them to continue the good efforts.

Presentation Evening / 200 Club draw

Well done to all the 200 club winners Les Price, John Long and Pat Hill, the 200 club is a very worthy cause, all proceeds going back into the club, if anyone wishes to join please contact Michael Stanistreet.

Bramhall Park - Mixed Friendly Match

Many thanks to all our players today sadly we ran out a close second 6.5 - 7.5, Bramhall Park was in very good condition having removed 250 trees over the winter the course was still a very attractive venue.  Lady Captain and I managed a Half which was our first success this year...Hooray !!!

Not a good day for my partner Stuart Aspin we dove tailed perfectly, unfortunately not in a good way.  Well done to Steve Hall and Andy McLaren who managed to play through and qualify easily

Ladies Mersey Sheild

A fantastic result for the Sale Ladies in this years event, they held on to win by 5 points a really great performance.

Men's Friendly Team Match v Worsley

We played our first match this year away at Worsley and the weather was with us thankfully, although the result wasn't, sadly we lost 5 - 2 .  My thanks go to my playing partner Ian Russell and to the team organiser Steve Snape, we will get our own back with home advantage later in the year.

Mersey League v Chorlton

Well done to the 1st team for a 4 - 2 win at home in the rain a darkness how the match was finished is a mystery to me.
Hard luck to the 2nd team who were beaten 3.5 - 2.5 away at Chorlton, better luck in the next match.

Archie Preston v Stamford

Commiserations to all the team members for a disappointing result away at Stamford.  Sadly we were beaten 5 - 2, Lady Captain and I lost on the 19th, grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory, against Keith and Joanne Coxen, who were long standing members at Sale before their move to Stamford.  Good luck to them in the next round.
